Vox Media Podcast Network will be hosting a stage at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) which will feature sessions with hosts from shows across its network, the company announced, as part of a new partnership with the conference.
The annual event, celebrating work across tech, film, music, entertainment and culture, is set to take place from 8 to 10 March next year in Austin, Texas. Vox Media is a long-time partner of the event and will host other programming during the conference to engage with business and consumer audiences.
“The Vox Media Podcast Stage at SXSW will bring an exciting slate of top tier programming to the 2024 event,” said SXSW co-president and chief brand officer Jann Baskett. “Vox Media has been a fantastic collaborator over the years as their forward-thinking perspective lends itself well to our content and activations.”
As part of the partnership, Vox Media’s podcast stage will feature sessions with the hosts of fan-favourite shows including technology podcasts Pivot and Decoder, interview series On with Kara Swisher, wellbeing podcast Where Should We Begin?, daily news podcast Today, Explained, and more.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring our slate of premium podcasts to South by Southwest, with whom we’ve had a longstanding relationship,” said Vox Media CMO Jacqueline Cinguina. “Like SXSW, our shows at Vox Media foster thoughtful conversations led by authoritative experts on a wide range of topics, and we couldn’t be more excited to complement SXSW’s programming with three days of live conversations, interviews, and so much more.”
The Vox Media Podcast Network launched in 2017 and is part of the media brand’s plans to grow its podcasting business. According to Ray Chao, Vox Media’s senior vice-president and general manager of audio and digital video, Vox Media is forecasting that its podcast network will reach more than 500 million total global downloads for 2023.
Other podcasters that will be part of next year’s SXSW include the host of The Moment with Ryan Patel who will be giving a keynote speech at the event, as well as The Happiness Lab host Laurie Santos, The Prof G Pod host Scott Galloway, Lipstick on the Rim podcast host Molly Sims, and more.
