Audible has extended its multi-year first-look deal with Fresh Produce Media, the podcast company that produced hit original scripted series The Big Lie starring A-listers Jon Hamm and Kate Mara, according to Deadline.
As part of the deal, Fresh Produce Media will continue to develop original IP with Audible for scripted and documentary audio series across multiple genres. The deal was first agreed in March 2022 when Fresh Produce launched its first Audible original, eight-part audio documentary Punk In Translation: Latinx Origins.
“Fresh Produce is the rare audio production company that can do it all,” said Audible chief content officer Rachel Ghiazza. “From thrilling audio documentaries, to edge-of-your-seat fiction, newsy conversation shows to music-infused memoir, they’re both versatile and fearless when it comes to telling must-hear stories in audio.”
Fresh Produce has brought on a number of actors, producers, and directors to work on new projects since renewing its multi-year deal with Audible, including The Fosters’ Elliot Fletcher, The Good Wife co-executive producer Todd Ellis Kessler, Medium co-executive producer Aaron Lipstatdt, and The Umbrella Academy supervising producer Thomas Page Mcbee. Serial music composer Mark Henry Phillips has also signed on to direct future projects for Fresh Produce.
“It’s hard to believe it was just March 2022 when we launched our first series,” said Fresh Produce founder and CEO Jason Ross. “From day one, Audible and the team led by [Ghiazza] have been collaborators of the absolute highest-calibre, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved thus far.”
“It’s an honour to continue doing such significant creative work together, and the shows we have in motion are really going to take our collaboration to new heights.”
Audible has worked on a series of original scripted podcast series in partnership with other production companies such as Treefort Media, which has worked with the Amazon-owned company on a number of titles including Sherlock Holmes audio drama Moriarty: The Silent Order starring Helen Mirren, science-fiction audio drama Upgrade Soul starring Suits’ Wendell Pierce and Uncoupled’s Marcia Gay Harden, and other fiction podcasts including Killing Hollywood: The Cotton Club Murder and Fishpriest.
