Part of what makes podcasting such a fantastic medium to work in is the range of diverse and exciting voices that make up its community, and this award is dedicated to celebrating the newest additions to this community - the ones to watch who have started making a name for themselves within podcasting after just a short time, and will surely go on to big things.
Winner: Grace Valerie-Lynette
It’s been a meteoric rise for Grace Valerie-Lynette. The 23-year-old self-produced the musical fiction podcast series Twinemies, and the deserved success of the show has subsequently opened a lot of doors in the world of podcasting.
Part of SYN Media’s Podcast Incubator Program, Twinemies charted at number #3 in Australia for its genre with top-20 slots in the US, New Zealand, Austria, Japan, Sweden and Singapore following. In March 2021, it was spotlighted by both Apple and Spotify (‘New and Noteworthy’ and ‘Fictional Fave’ respectively), opening the door to extensive media coverage and a flurry of CBAA and WebFest nominations and awards.
Since then, Valerie-Lynette has become a developer producer at FremantleMedia Australia, commissioning Sex Therapy: Sessions with Chantelle Otten. She also mentors for AudioAbility, training young people with disabilities in the art of radio and podcasting.
