Producing one successful podcast is hard enough, but consistently creating a range of hit podcasts takes dedication and talent. This category, therefore, rewards the organisations that are going the extra mile to create stand-out audio content in a range of categories and genres, setting the pace for the rest of the industry.
Winner: SBS Audio
While SBS Audio’s podcasting output has increased massively since the first one was put out in 2008, this was a particularly strong year for the network. Shows like SEEN, Bad Taste, My Bilingual Family, Noongar Wellbeing, New Home, My First Year on Aussie Soil, Transitioning in Translation, Our Deaf Ways, Conversations on Country, Colours of Cricket and The Idiom all launched since January 2022.
SBS’ output now has over 200 feeds, serving different audiences in different genres from news and culture to history and sports. The shows are produced by over 250 journalists in over 60 languages. Great Minds alone was translated into five.
Along with these new launches, existing titles were honoured in the Webby, Victorian Health Promotion and the Signal Awards, and the company also managed to find time for a rebrand, marketing campaign and website relaunch.
