Irish Podcast Awards 2023: Best podcast network or publisher

This award category goes towards celebrating organisations that eat, sleep and breathe podcasting, creating robust slates of audio content that delight listeners and allow the network to expand into new areas. As well as outstanding performance, this award recognises achievements in creative development and programming, leading the industry by example.

Winner: The HeadStuff Podcast Network

The HeadStuff Podcast Network had an excellent year, as it celebrated a number of big milestones, launched some promising new podcasts, and enjoyed significant growth on established ones.

In terms of milestones, both Double Love and improv phone-in show Phoning It In reached 100 episodes apiece, while Fireside reached number 200. New additions to the network include Talking Ted (where single-episode stars of Father Ted discuss the beloved sitcom), Everybody Is A Poem (a podcast exploring life’s ups and downs with ‘accidental poet’ Jan Brierton) and the collaboration with Silicon Republic: For Tech’s Sake.

As for the company’s established shows, two comedian-led podcasts — Agony Rants (Gearóid Farrelly and Niamh Kavanagh) and Fad Camp (Grace Mulvey and Conor Dowling) saw a huge rise in listenership. Meanwhile, Stefanie Preissner took home the 2022 Mental Health Champion award at the Headline Mental Health Awards for the Basically podcast.
