Milena Sanchez, founding co-host of award-winning Spotify Studios comedy podcast The Receipts, has announced that she will be departing from the podcast after more than seven years.
The announcement was made on Twitter this morning, with Sanchez stating that while her departure is “what’s best”, the decision was difficult. While Sanchez did not clarify the reasons behind her decision to leave, PodPod understands that it is a personal choice.
“It’s been a difficult decision that weighed heavy on my heart for some time now and though it’s been tough, I believe it’s what’s best for me,” said Sanchez. “I’m deeply grateful for the love and support that has surrounded me over the years, I’ll forever hold a special place in my heart for our listeners.”
Sanchez also added that the podcast will continue without her and wished her remaining co-hosts - Tolani Shoneye and Audrey Indome - all the best. The Receipts Instagram account also posted about the news, saying that it has been an “amazing journey” working with Sanchez since the launch of the podcast, and that they wish her all the best and will continue to support her in her future endeavours.
“Tolly and Audrey are still on this ride with you, and are still here to keep you company and do this life thing together.”
The Receipts will also be taking a short break until the start of the New Year as Indome goes on maternity leave, but will be returning with two episodes a week, doubling its previous release schedule. The podcast is also now no longer exclusive to Spotify, with the audio available to listen to across all major podcast platforms and video remaining exclusive to the platform.
