Acast key account director Mike Thomas has been promoted to group business director, the company has announced, joining the senior sales leadership team as part of an internal restructure of the wider UK team.
Thomas first joined the podcast company in May 2021, bringing over 10 years of experience in the advertising and sales industry. Prior to joining Acast, Thomas served several senior roles within companies including being the commercial director for Clash Music Group and sales account manager for News UK.
As part of his new responsibilities, Thomas will manage a team responsible for building relationships with media companies in the UK and work alongside the senior sales leadership team led by Acast director of sales Leo Goldingham.
Other members of the team include commercial partnerships director Kate Lockie, sales operations director Vicky Dubeck, commercial strategy director Tom Roach, brand partnerships director Sophie Westbeech, and fellow group business directors Emma Morrisroe, Gabriella Cox, and Lorna Byrne.
“My new role will continue to work with some of the biggest ad-buying teams and brands, and I look forward to renewing some long-standing relationships and sharing all the latest news, stats and shows from Acast Creator Network with the media industry,” said Thomas.
As part of the company’s restructure within the sales team, key account manager Dapo Olowu - one of PodPod’s 2023 Faces To Watch - and account executive Imogen Hudson have been promoted to key account directors, while account manager Amelia Chapman has been promoted to account executive.
“Our media-facing sales team is simply the best in the business,” said Acast UK & Ireland managing director Josh Woodhouse. “No one else knows the potential of podcasting like they do or has the passion to help our creators grow and blossom. I know Mike’s incredible experience will continue to be an asset to Acast, and I’m proud to have Dapo, Imogen and Amelia on our side.”
At the start of this month, Lizzy Pollott - Acast’s senior vice president of marketing, communications, and brand - was promoted to a newly-created role within the company as chief communications and brand officer, representing Acast's first C-level marketing and comms position.
