Goalhanger to launch new entertainment podcast with Richard Osman and Marina Hyde

Show will launch this autumn and “lift the lid on Hollywood’s juiciest gossip”

Podcast production company Goalhanger is launching a new untitled entertainment podcast, hosted by television presenter Richard Osman and journalist Marina Hyde, co-founder Gary Linekar announced last night.

The news was revealed by the former footballer during a fireside chat with his co-host on The Rest is Football Alan Shearer, The Rest is Money’s co-host Robert Peston, and Spotify’s head of sales for Northern Europe Ed Couchman at a Spotify event in London.

Goalhanger’s co-founder Tony Pastor told PodPod that the show is planning to launch this autumn and that the plan for the show is to “lift the lid on Hollywood’s juiciest gossip” and offer an inside look into the world of entertainment including TV, music, film, and books.

“We’ve wanted to produce a show about entertainment for a while but we’ve been waiting to get the perfect combination of hosts,” Pastor told PodPod. “Richard Osman and Marina Hyde were our dream combination from the start and we are absolutely delighted to have them both on board.”

Gaolhanger co-founder Jack Davenport previously told PodPod that the chemistry between the hosts is among the first things that the company looks for when planning a new show, and it often devises the pairing before anything else.

“The show will tell us what’s gone wrong at Disney, how a high-end TV show like Succession actually gets made, and what exactly went on with Kanye West and Bianca Censori on a gondola in Venice,” Pastor said.

The announcement follows the recent launch of The Rest is Football with Lineker, Shearer, and Micah Richards, and The Rest is Money with Peston and Steph McGovern, both of which are at the top of the UK charts at the moment at number one and number six, respectively.

Pastor also added that Goalhanger’s slate of podcasts now has around 20 million downloads per month with the success of its other podcasts - The Rest is Politics with former political figures Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart and The Rest is History with historians Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook - both which are also at the top of the charts at number four and number nine.
