Writer and former actress Jeannette McCurdy is launching a new weekly podcast examining how she processes difficult emotions, according to Variety.
The weekly podcast series, titled Hard Feelings, is produced by independent podcast network Lemonada Media and will be reportedly launching in the autumn, although the official release date is yet to be announced. The podcast will see McCurdy dive into how she deals with intimate subject matters including social anxiety, jealousy, shame, and so on.
“I’m thrilled and utterly terrified to launch my new podcast, which will be an intimate look at my experience processing hard feelings,” said McCurdy in a statement.
McCurdy’s podcast announcement comes a year after the launch of her bombshell memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died, which detailed the abuse she faced from her mother during her years of being a child actress, known for starring in Nickelodeon shows iCarly and Sam & Cat.
The writer also has prior experience in podcasting, having hosted interview podcast Empty Inside in 2021 where she spoke to different guests each episode about topics like comedy, eating disorders and therapy, although the majority of the episodes are no longer available.
“We talk a lot these days about the importance of authenticity, but it’s hard to find a truly authentic voice — someone who is unabashedly themselves,” said Lemonada chief creative officer Stephanie Wittels Wachs. “Anyone who’s read Jennette’s stunning memoir knows that this is precisely what she brings to the table.”
Lemonada Media is an independent company that was founded in 2019 by Cordova Kramer, former executive producer of Crooked Media’s Pod Save the People, and Wittel Wachs, voice actress and host of Lemonada’s Last Day podcast. The network is known for producing talent-driven content with original shows like Wiser Than Me with Seinfeld actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Workin’ On It with singer Meghan Trainor and her brother Ryan Trainor.
The network also recently announced that it signed a new ad sales and distribution partnership with José Andrés Media (JAM), a multi-media platform led by Michelin star chef and restaurateur José Andrés, in July. Lemonada offers sponsorship opportunities for brands that want to advertise on its portfolio of podcasts, including host-read ads, dynamically inserted and more.
