The Tommy, Hector & Laurita Podcast returns for new series this week

Smash-hit Irish podcast will also launch new subscriber-only series

Smash-hit Irish comedy series The Tommy, Hector & Laurita Podcast is returning for a new season this week, the creators have announced, including a new subscriber-only offering.

Following a six-month break, the new series is debuting on 14 September and will be distributed across all major podcast platforms through its partnership with Acast. The company also represents ad sales for the podcast, with brands being able to purchase both host-read and programmatic sponsorships on the podcast through its advertising marketplace.

“Tommy, Hector and Laurita have taken a well-earned break (or in their words, ‘a small break’) and, as of next week, are back with more of the brilliant storytelling and chat that has made them podcasting superstars,” said Acast Creator Network director Jennifer Dollard. “Acast is proud to help them with advertising support, sponsorship and working with them to create this gem of a podcast.”

The podcast launched three years ago and has already amassed 20 million listens. In addition to the podcast’s main feed, the hosts - comedian Tommy Tiernan and broadcasters Laurita Blewitt and Hector Ó hEochagáin - offer a subscription tier via Acast+, which includes a back catalogue with over 100 episodes as well as ad-free listening. Alongside the new series, the hosts are also launching a brand new bonus series from 18 September titled Three Pints, based on conversations in their local pub.

The Tommy, Hector & Laurita Podcast was crowned Best Entertainment Podcast at last year’s inaugural Irish Podcast Awards, and also walked away with the Spotlight Award for outstanding podcasts with larger audiences. The shortlist for this year’s Irish Podcast Awards is set to be announced later this week, with the ceremony taking place in Dublin in November.
