Actor and TV personality Ryan Cameron is hosting a new podcast series for Warner Music Group, under its podcast division Interval Presents, on the history and impact of Black radio, the company has announced.
Over 14 episodes, Amplify Colour will highlight modern trailblazers across the industry, including names like Charlamagne tha God and Wendy Williams, as well as looking back at the history of Black radio with past icons such as Jack L. Cooper and Petey Greene. Cameron will also reflect on his own experience as a member of the Georgia and Black Radio Hall of Fame to tell the tales of those people who’ve impacted the industry.
“Stepping into the world of Amplify Color has been an electrifying experience,” said Cameron. “As someone deeply rooted in the radio industry, I’m honoured to host this incredible series that unravels the dynamic stories of radio luminaries.”
“This podcast is not just about radio history, but about the unbreakable spirit that has driven change and inspired countless individuals. Join us as we journey through the remarkable tales that have woven the fabric of Black radio.”
The show is produced by Double Elvis, a podcast company established by Disgraceland host Jake Brennan which has demonstrated a specialiation in music-focused podcasts like Blood On The Tracks. The first episode is launching on 13 September across all major podcast platforms and the rest of the episodes will continue to release weekly every Wednesday.
In addition to the main podcast, Cameron will also host a bonus episode in conversation with Interval Presents’ senior vice president of digital strategy and business development, Allan Coye. The podcast is part of the division’s efforts to broaden its portfolio of audio programming and reach new audiences with culture-forward content.
“This series embodies our commitment to amplify diverse voices through premium storytelling and is a great overlap with the industry that Interval Presents lives in,” said Coye. “It underscores the vital contributions of icons who shaped the radio industry by shedding light on their lasting impact. Amplify Color is an immersive exploration of history, culture, and transformation.”
In addition to Amplify Colour, Interval Presents recently announced another original series featuring singer Jason Derulo and actress Alexandra Shipp as the stars of a new upcoming neo-noir romantic podcast thriller titled Underwater. Other talent-led podcasts that Interval Presents has announced include a non-fiction podcast show exploring the African Diaspora with award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o.
