Danish podcast and audiobook platform Podimo has expanded its management team in Germany with the appointment of Friedhelm Tauber, the company announced.
Tauber will start his new role as country manager on 18 September, bringing over 10 years of experience in the tech and startup industry to the team. As part of his new responsibilities, Tauber will oversee all of Podimo’s activities in Germany on both the content side with new acquisitions, as well as production and marketing of podcasts, and on the business side with partnerships and subscriptions.
“I am excited to join Podimo Germany and work with such a talented team,” said Tauber. “Podcasting is an exciting and rapidly growing industry, and I look forward to helping Podimo continue to innovate and provide the best possible experience for German creators and listeners.”
Prior to working for Podimo, Tauber served as country manager at financial software company TaxFix for three and a half years, following roles at PayPal and eBay across various business divisions.
In this new role, Tauber will report to Podimo’s global head of markets Juan Galiardo Sosa and replace current country manager Sebastian Romanus, who decided to step down from the company after increasing its subscribers and designing the company strategy for Podimo Germany.
“We are thrilled to have Friedhelm join our team as the new Country Manager for Podimo Germany,” said Podimo CEO Morten Strunge. “His years of experience in the tech and startup world, as well as his proven track record of leading teams to success and driving growth in competitive markets makes him the perfect candidate for us, as we double down our efforts and investments in Germany, our top priority market.”
Other restructures in Podimo’s management team include Ulrike Zeitlinger-Haake also stepping down from her role as head of content. While she will be continuing ro work with the company in an advisory role, Podimo’s deputy head of content Alexandra Löwenstein will be stepping up to lead the local content team, after working at the company since before its launch in 2019.
“We work with incredible creators and production partners in Germany and believe there are many more who would benefit from Podimo’s platform and economic model,” said Podimo chief content officer Sachin Doshi. “We look forward to working closely with Friedhelm and Alexandra Löwenstein, who has been a rising star for Podimo Germany since before we launched.”
“We will continue to innovate the listener experience in the market while fostering an environment where creators can thrive and focus on what they love and do best - making great podcasts.”
Podimo is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, but has been continuing to grow its global operations with teams in Europe and Latin America. In February this year, Podimo announced the launch of its presence in the UK with a number of regional content partnerships including ones with production company Listen, ‘slow news’ publisher Tortoise Media, production company What’s The Story Sounds, and more.
