iHeartPodcast Australia signs multi-year partnership with TED

Network to take on ad sales and distribution rights for for TED podcasts

ARN’S iHeartPodcast Network has signed a multi-year partnership with non-profit media organisation TED to monetise and distribute its slate of podcasts in Australia and New Zealand, the company has announced. 

With this partnership, the iHeartPodcast Network will help the TED Audio Collective channel monetise its content in the region through connecting it with advertisers, as well as growing its audience by distributing it across all major podcast platforms.

“We’re excited to bring TED’s audio content to Australia and New Zealand, where we’ve long had a strong following of people watching TED Talks online and hosting independently organised TEDx events in their local communities,” said TED Partnerships senior director Laura Beyer. “This will now enable us to reach a more global audience with a diverse range of topics — from technology to business to design — and provide access to TED content in a new format.”

TED’s podcast slate is led by its flagship show TED Talks Daily, which has over 1.8 million monthly downloads in Australia. Other podcasts under the TED Audio Collective include deep-dives like The Redemption of Jar Jar Binks, psychology podcast ReThinking with Adam Grant, business and culture podcast After Hours, and many more. 

According to Triton Digital’s Australian podcast ranker, the ARN iHeartPodcast Network is the top podcast publisher in the region as of July 2023, with over 4 million monthly listeners. It is also the second top sales representative in Australia, following podcast and radio network LiSTNR, and has partnered with numerous podcast companies including Audioboom, AdLarge Media, Sport Social Podcast Network, Producey, and many more.

ARN iHeartRadio also recently partnered with analytics platform Magellan AI on the top podcast advertiser report in Australia for Q2 2023. The report revealed that Amazon was the top podcast advertiser in the region that quarter and that overall, podcast advertising grew by 64% year on year, 21% higher than the previous quarter.
