Heavy metal band Metallica has launched an official weekly news podcast, keeping fans updated on news from Metallica HQ and the band’s ongoing M72 world concert tour.
The podcast, titled The Metallica Report, is co-hosted by Steffan Chirazi, editor and creative director of Metallica’s official magazine So What!, and Renée Richardson, director of philanthropy for its charitable foundation All Within My Hands.
The podcast is produced and distributed by Pantheon Media, which is behind a number of music and culture podcasts such as Rock N Roll Archaeology and Talk Tunes. It is also created in partnership with production company PopCult, which worked on Metallica’s 2021 music podcast The Metallica Podcast: Volume 1.
“PopCult is excited to be working again with Metallica to expand their podcast footprint and to launch our first partnership with Pantheon," said PopCult partner Lars Murray. "Metallica and their global community are inexhaustible sources of interesting news and stories. The Metallica Report will be a 'must-listen' for longtime fans, as well as folks who might be diving in for the first time.”
In addition to the latest news and updates on Metallica from Chirazi and Richardson, The Metallica Report’s mini-features will provide exclusive behind-the-scenes news as well as interviews from band members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo, and with others like the touring crew and fans. The podcast will also take listener questions and answer them every Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with Metallica to produce a weekly news podcast that will give fans an inside look at the band's world," said Pantheon Media CEO Christian Swain. “'The Metallica Report represents an exciting new chapter for Pantheon, as we continue to push the boundaries of audio entertainment with our partner PopCult.”
“Metallica's standing as one of the most influential bands in music history, along with their commitment to their global community of fans, makes them the perfect partner for us.”
