Australian Podcast Awards extends entry deadline to 3 August

Podcasters will have until midnight to submit their award entries

The 2023 Australian Podcast Awards has extended its standard entry deadline from 20 July to 3 August, giving podcasters 10 additional days to finalise their entries before the shortlist is announced in September.

Entry fees are based on the company or individual’s annual turnover, ranging from $165 + GST per entry at the lowest and $325 + GST per entry at the highest. Additionally, independent audio producers that identify as BIPOC, Queer and/or Trans may be eligible for financial support with their entry fees through the Podcasting, Seriously Awards Fund.

This is the Australian Podcast Awards seventh year celebrating podcast excellence around the country both in front of and behind the mic. The event is powered by ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network, which is the number one podcast publisher in Australia, according to Triton Digital.

“We love the annual gathering of the Australian Podcast Industry to celebrate the magic of our thriving medium and are proud to once again lead the recognition of those who are doing it best,” said ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network Australia head of digital audio Corey Layton.

This year’s award ceremony is taking place in November in Sydney, Australia. Last year’s event was held at the Seymour Theatre with award-winning presenter of KIIS FM TV’s music podcast The Night Show, Mitch Churi, as the host of the evening.

Award categories range from genre-specific titles such as Best Parenting and Best History to general and commercial titles such as Best Network and Best Branded Podcast. Special Recognition categories that are not eligible for entry and arre chosen by the judges include the Rising Star, Podcast Champion, Specialist, and Spotlight Awards.

The highest honour of the night will go to Podcast of The Year, chosen by the judges from a selection of Gold winners across the other categories. Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite podcast to win the Listener’s Choice Award as long as the podcast has been available since 1 June this year at least and is listed in the Apple Podcasts Directory.

The Australian Podcast Awards is a sister event to the British Podcast Awards and Irish Podcast Awards. For more information, visit the Australian Podcast Awards website.
