Comedy podcast festival Cheerful Earful returns this November

Headliners include The Socially Distant Sports Bar and The Joe Marler Show

Cheerful Earful, the UK’s first comedy podcast festival, has announced that it is returning for its second year, running from 31 October for six days.

The festival of live shows, produced by Giddy Aunt Comedy, will run during the weekdays across multiple venues in South London operated by London pub group Three Cheers Pub Co., including the Clapham Grand which seats over 700 audience members, and will be hosting the event’s headline shows.

This year’s headline podcasts are The Socially Distant Sports Bar with comedians Elis James, Mike Bubbins and Steff Garrero, and Crowd Network’s The Joe Marler Show. Other podcasts that have been added to the line-up so far include big names like Black Gals Livin’ and A Gay and A Nongay as well as returning shows from last year like Desert Island Dicks and Trusty Hogs.

“Cheerful Earful is a joyous celebration of the podcasts that keep us entertained and laughing week-in, week-out,” said festival founder Giles Gear. “As well as showcasing some of the country’s most popular pods, it’s a platform for smaller shows to connect with a new audience and grow.”

“We are also indebted to Adelicious, our lead media partner, for their continued support of festival, which allows us to keep it free to perform for all the shows as well as our venue partner, the Three Cheers Pub Co., who backed us from the beginning!”

Other pubs that will be hosting some of the shows include The Bedford pub in Balham with the "Headline" and "Listen Up" stages, as well as The Princess Victoria in Shepherd's Bush with the "Upstairs" stage. Comedy podcast fans around the world can also watch the podcast live shows with a livestream available on the Cheerful Earful website through streaming platform NextUp.

Last year’s Cheerful Earful festival, which took place in October, had a successful inaugural launch with 750 attendees across the four days of the event. The livestream was also watched by audiences worldwide across 65 countries.

Other podcast festivals that are set to make a return this year include the London Podcast Festival which will be running from 7 to 17 September. Tickets are set to go on sale from today.
