Spotify Advertising’s newly-launched competition podcast The Perfect Pitch will be recording live bonus episodes from the company’s beachfront activation at this year’s Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
Each episode of the series, produced under Spotify Studios, features two audio producers responding to a creative brief from a brand and competing to create a winning advertising campaign. Chief marketing officers across a number of brands including Indeed, Athletic Greens, and Frito-Lay will also make guest appearances on each episode to create the briefs.
“Spotify offers advertisers and creative minds a unique canvas to play, create and innovate. We wanted to shine a light on the process and inspire others to flex their creative muscle,” said Spotify head of ads business marketing Grace Kao. “The Perfect Pitch brings people under the hood, taking listeners on a journey to understand the craft of audio production – and we thought, ‘what better way to put those skills to the test than with creative briefs from brand leaders themselves’?”
The series is hosted by television presenter and actor Hunter March, known for hosting Netflix reality cooking show Sugar Rush. The first episode launched 12 June with job hunting website Indeed as the brand providing the brief with its CMO Jessica Jensen and global brand marketing vice president Jennifer Warren.
This year at Cannes, Spotify is returning with a number of sessions planned, including talks with its top podcast creators like Alex Cooper discussing the art of the interview and Emma Chamberlain on brand building. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek will also be making an appearance with Trevor Noah, discussing the future of storytelling.
