Amazon company Audible has announced the cast list and premiere data for the second season of its post-apocalyptic podcast series Impact Winter.
This follows the success of the first season, which launched in February 2022 and took the number three spot on the Apple Podcast Charts. The new season of the audio drama is premiering 13 July on Audible and other podcast platforms, and a third season has already been greenlit.
“The hit first season of Impact Winter combined extraordinary storytelling with the highest-quality production value and performances,” said Audible Studios head Zola Mashariki. “We’re delighted to deliver two new seasons of this powerful series that has captivated audiences across the globe.”
“With the addition of new characters and a similarly immersive soundscape, we are confident that this epic tale will continue to provide listeners with a uniquely entertaining experience.”
Stars that are joining the cast this season include Doctor Who’s Sacha Dhawa, Game of Thrones’ Ralph Ineson, Willow’s Ellie Bamber, Shadow and Bone’s Danielle Galligan, Being Human’s Andrew Gower, and others. Returning cast members include CB Strike’s Holliday Grainer, The Last of Us’ Bella Ramsey, and many more.
Impact Winter is written and directed by Travis Beachem, the creator behind Amazon series Carnival Row and co-writer for Pacific Rim. The series is also made in partnership with multiplatform content company Skybound Entertainment and media company Anonymous Content.
Subscribers are also able to listen to the second season of the series with immersive spatial audio through Dolby Atmos using the Audible app at no additional cost. Audible previously announced its partnership with Dolby Atmos in March this year to offer an immersive sound experience across more than 40 of its original titles.
Audible has invested in a number of original audio drama series that feature a number of award-winning actors including best-selling series The Sandman, adapted from the DC comic written by Neil Gaiman, starring James McAvoy, Kat Dennings, and Michael Sheen. Following a positive reception from listeners, the project has so far released three seasons.
