Steven Bartlett’s The Diary Of A CEO comes to BBC iPlayer

Bartlett claims he’s the “first independent podcast to ever stream on the platform”

Steven Bartlett, the host and creator of the UK’s top entrepreneurial podcast The Diary Of A CEO, has announced that his podcast is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

The deal is part of Bartlett’s wider initiative to push the limits of his podcast distribution beyond Apple, Spotify, YouTube, and other podcast platforms. With this deal, BBC iPlayer will host 10 episodes from The Diary of A CEO non-exclusively in order to expose the podcast to new audiences.

Bartlett’s podcast has also been distributed on a number of other innovative platforms and became the first video podcast to play in the air after signing deals with seven airlines. Prisoners can also stream the podcast in their cells with a partnership between The Diary of A CEO and His Majesty's Prison Service (HMPS).

“Since launching The Diary Of A CEO I've tried to innovate what a 'podcast' is in a variety of ways,” said Bartlett in a LinkedIn post. “The obvious stuff is the hardest stuff... It's obvious to try and make production better, to make promotion better, to make the guests better, to make my interviewing skills better... but nobody really thinks much about distribution.”

In addition to Diary of A CEO, Bartlett also works with the BBC on another show , appearing as a ‘dragon’ on Dragon’s Den after joining the series in 2021, becoming the youngest entrepreneur to do so at 28.

“Dragon’s Den is hugely popular programme on BBC iPlayer - and we want to bring this Dragon’s series to viewers that might not otherwise have found it,” said a BBC spokesperson.

Bartlett’s podcast The Diary of A CEO is currently one of the top-ranking podcasts in the UK, having been consistently in the top 10 across Chartable’s top podcasts in the UK list for months. The podcast launched in 2017 and has featured a number of big name guests including Tony Hawk, Alex Cooper, Seth Rogen, and many more.

The podcast is also well-known for its use of video episodes on YouTube and clips on social media, with Bartlett’s channel growing to over two million subscribers and videos regularly gaining an average of 100,000+ views with his most popular reaching five million.

Bartlett also announced the launch of a new book earlier this week titled ‘The Diary of a CEO: The 33 Laws of Business, Marketing and Life’ and aims to help guide readers in both their business ventures and their personal lives based on Bartlett’s own experiences.

“After two years of meticulous research, interviewing incredible people on the podcast and even journeying to the jungle for solitude, I've written a brand new book,” said Bartlett in a LinkedIn post. “The book is an amalgamation of wisdom drawn from podcast conversations, scientific principles, and my own experiences.”

“I’m genuinely so proud of this book and wish it had been available when I was starting out in my career.”

The book is set to release in August and fans can pre-order it now through Amazon books, Waterstones, WH Smith, Bookshop, and Audible. A limited signed edition of the book is also available for pre-order and Bartlett teased that he has a “little extra surprise” for people who did so yesterday.
