BBC Radio 4 comedy series Welcome to the Neighborhood, exploring the ‘fiesty world’ of community message boards, has announced the return of its second series.
The podcast is hosted by award-winning comedian and actress Jayde Adams and features an array of celebrity guests. The guest line-up for this season includes broadcaster and co-host of food podcast Dish, Nick Grimshaw, musician Self Esteem, and comedian Isy Suttie.
“Another fantastic season of nosing around neighbourhood spats and disagreements with some of my favourite people,” said Adams. “Standing back and watching the general public descend into chaos over bin days and freecycling? I thought being in the Take That movie was the job of a lifetime, but season two of Welcome to the Neighbourhood, take a bow!”
The new season will debut as a 10-episode boxset on BBC Sounds, available from 26 May, and will also be broadcast weekly on BBC Radio 4 every friday. The series first launched in May 2022 and quickly gained popularity having featured a number of celebrity guests including Off Menu podcast co-host James Acaster.
“It’s a joy to have the magnificent Jayde back for another series as she continues to rake through the hilarious real-life online postings of the nation’s most belligerent neighbours,” said Jon Holmes, the show’s producer and creator of BBC Radio 4 satire podcast The Skewer. “Not so much Neighbourhood Watch, as a Neighbourhood Must-Listen.”
The news follows a string of wins for BBC podcasts at this year’s UK Audio and Radio Industry Awards (ARIAs), including The Skewer, which won the Comedy Award, Moment of Truth for Best Sports Show, and The Smugglers’ Trail for Best News Coverage, as well as the BBC Sounds Audio Lab show Colouring In Britain, which took first prize for Best New Podcast. Radio 4 itself also won National Network of the Year.
