iHeartMedia signs distribution and ad sales deal with Brett Goldstein’s podcast

Films To Be Buried With podcast will now be part of Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network

Brett Goldstein, star and co-writer of award-winning comedy drama Ted Lasso, has moved his podcast Films To Be Buried With over to Will Ferrell’s comedy podcast network Big Money Players at iHeartMedia.

As part of this partnership, iHeartMedia will now be responsible for the podcast’s ad sales and distribution but will continue to make it available across all podcast platforms. Goldstein’s podcast was previously part of the Distraction Pieces podcast network and was monetised through the Acast Creator Network.

“With the new partnership with iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network, my neighbour Maureen and I are really excited to kill a whole new selection of very special guests – from comedians and actors to filmmakers and writers – and force them to choose one film to be buried with,” said Goldstein in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Films To Be Buried With launched in 2018 and continued to increase in popularity after Goldstein gained a new set of fans due to his role as Roy Kent on Ted Lasso, which premiered two years after his podcast launched. The podcast has featured a number of celebrity guests in the past and upcoming ones include his Ted Lasso co-star Hannah Waddingham, who plays Rebecca; stand-up comedian Lolly Adefope and many more.

Ferrell’s podcast network on iHeartMedia launched in 2019 as a destination for top comedy podcasts which includes his own series, The Ron Burgundy Podcast, and a number of other scripted and unscripted comedy podcasts like Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. As part of this venture between Ferrell and iHeartMedia, the actor also acts as executive producer for the shows.

“Its creative, multiplatform assets and ability to market and reach millions of new podcast listeners is unprecedented,” Ferrell previously said when talking about iHeart during the partnership announcement. “I’m looking forward to continuing our journey as creative partners and helping to define how comedy and podcasting will merge in the next couple years.”
