Seren Jones

Podcast presenter and producer, Blanchard House

Shortlisted by the Radio Academy as one of their 30 Under 30 finalists in 2020, Seren Jones is a BAFTA-nominated Welsh, Zimbabwean journalist who started her career at the BBC as a radio newsreader before moving into podcast production. Seren was one of the founding producers of the BBC’s Beyond Today podcast before going on to produce the award-winning Newscast and Americast,and launching the BBC’s first current affairs podcast for young black audiences, Radio 1Xtra’s If You Don’t Know

In 2022, Seren was nominated for the ARIAS’ best factual series with Brixton: Flames on the Frontline, a podcast hosted by rapper Big Narstie marking 40 years since the Brixton Uprising. Seren also produced and hosted Black Girls Don’t Swim, and co-founded the Black Swimming Association, a charity set up to encourage more people from African, Caribbean and Asian communities to engage in aquatics.

Jones now works for production company and ‘IP incubator’ Blanchard House, and has further demonstrated her talents and capabilities through producing and hosting major projects for clients including Audible and other partners. The judges said “Seren has worked on several incredible shows with particular protagonists or subjects. I look forward to Seren bringing more of that insight to a broader range of storytelling and editorial decisions.”
