Dan Jackson

Head of production and executive producer of vodcasts, Reduced Listening

A multifaceted talent leading in both production management and creative vision, Dan Jackson started working in television in 2005 on a variety of arts and factual output. He worked in diverse departments at ITV, ranging from global acquisitions and format sales, brand management, operations, development and transmission delivery, as well as working on Coronation Street as a production manager and then as a storyline writer.

In 2019 he turned to audio and has created some quiet, creative successes such as Noir Then, a podcast on northern crime fiction, andRabbiting On, a podcast presented by three rabbis. All his skills came together when he joined Reduced Listening in October 2021 as production manager, and in October 2022 was promoted to head of production, negotiating £200,000-£300,000 podcast contracts with companies like Spotify and Crooked Media for always-on multimedia productions. As creative exec-producer he also leads on designing creative treatment, such as the 10-part 2023 Manchester International podcast.

In the first half of this year, he set up Nailing It, a triple-header vodcast for Spotify. This involved securing complex host contracts (with an uncompromising five-season lock with three agents across three continents), establishing the location studio in an actual nail salon and overseeing the video production process. In the last six months he has been leading both the contractual and operational development of Pod Save the UK, a new politics podcast made with Crooked Media.
