Megan Hayward is a podcast producer at editaudio, having previously been a freelance producer and documentary maker following on from her MA in radio, audio and podcasting at the University of Sunderland. From being part of the team editing daily news briefings that reached a million downloads last year to curating the original micro-pod series On the Road, to working with clients such as Stack Overflow and Well+Good, Hayward has worked on a wide variety of podcasts. She also edits Dune Pod, working closely with co-host and producer Haitch to create consistently hilarious episodes for its very committed listenership.
Before editaudio, Hayward freelanced on various podcast and speech-radio productions, including Stellaria Media’s Lightning Birds and BBC Radio 1 Relax: ASMR. Hayward has volunteered over the last three years with the SRA to support students and alumni within the audio industry, mentoring individuals and creating training materials. Her main focus is now Mina AF, a ‘personal journal meets candid interview’-style show with HGTV’s Mina Starsiak Hawk. Each week, Hawk pulls the layers back with hilarious conversations on everything from plastic surgery to balancing motherhood and business, alongside guests such as Ashley Flowers of Crime Junkie. The show hit 90,000 downloads within the first two months.
Last summer Hayward was a Charles Parker Prize-winner, seeing her documentary Down on the Farm broadcast on BBC Radio 4 as part of their New Storytellers series. This documentary was also a finalist at the New York Festivals Radio Awards 2022. She was also awarded Young Person of the Year at the Community Radio Awards 2022 for her time volunteering as Spark FM’s head of speech/show producer. The judges said that “Megan's work is slick and polished, and displays a thoughtful approach to audio storytelling, making her a definite one to watch.”
