The Podcast Show has announced its latest round of new speakers for this year’s annual conference, including award-winning podcaster Adam Buxton and the hosts of Global’s hit current affairs podcast The News Agents, Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall.
Other new speakers that have just been announced include comedian Nish Kumar who will also be hosting the upcoming Crooked Media podcast Pod Save The UK, news broadcaster and host of Snowcast, Jon Snow, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby co-host Mike Tindall, reality star and co-host of Staying Relevant, Sam Thompson, and Brown Girls Do It Too’s Poppy Jay and Rubina Pabani.
The event is an annual celebration of the podcasting industry that brings together experts and creators from around the world. This year’s Podcast Show is taking place from 24-25 May at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, and an additional live podcast festival promoted by TEG Live Europe will be running from 22 to 28 May.
The first round of live podcast recordings, which will take place in the evenings, have been announced and include Kermode & Mayo’s Take, Tape Notes featuring a guest appearance from Adam Buxton, Tea With Me with host Shane Todd, The Socially Distant Sports Bar, AFTV: The Invincible Podcast and The Useless Hotline. A total of 30 recordings will take place over the course of the week with the rest to be announced closer to the event.
Audio giant Spotify is amongst the latest partners to join The Podcast Show, alongside global talent management agency YMU Entertainment, audio software company Dolby, and ‘slow news’ publication Tortoise Media. Acast, Amazon Music, and Wondery are the headline partners for this year’s event. Other official partners include PodPod, Audioboom, BBC Sounds, Global, and Veritone.
YMU Entertainment will head The Origin Theatre on Preview Night with key members of the YMU leadership team in conversation with a number of clients on stage from 9.30am to 12.30pm, including Fearne Cotton, Gabby Logan, Giovanna Fletcher, Cel Spellman, Raphael Rowe and Jack Harries.
The Rise Up Stage will be in partnership with podcast production company Listen and creator management company Arcade Media on day one, with sessions talking about what the podcast industry can learn from the creator economy. The sessions will feature talks from Arcade Media co-founder and host of Unboxed Jordan Schwarzenberger, as well as other content creators like Patricia Bright and commissioners like Netflix global podcast content lead Rae Votta.
As part of the Rise Up Stage, PodPod will be holding a panel discussion highlighting some of the winners of its first annual Faces To Watch programme. PodPod and Campaign will also be curating four panel sessions on the Brand Works stage, shining a light on the marketing and advertising opportunities that podcasts can offer.
On the second day of the event, the same stage will be presented in partnership with global talent management agency Insanity and will feature sessions with some of its key clients including Alice Levine, Roman Kemp, Sam Thompson, Made By Mammas’ Zoe Hardman & Georgia Dayton, Zara McDermott and Jordan North.
Lastly, The Podcast Show also announced that it will be launching its inaugural International Podcast Trailblazer Award at this year’s event which will honour an individual that has made a global impact on the podcast industry and take place on Preview Night. An Industry Advisory Panel who will choose the award-winner wiill soon be announced.
