Podmasters launches new podcast profiling key figures in the news

Hosted by award-winning former BBC and Channel 4 journalist Michael Crick

Podcast and audio production company Podmasters has announced the launch of a new podcast series with acclaimed journalist Michael Crick profiling key figures that appear in headlines. 

The weekly series titled Mugshots with Michael Crick will have a minimum of 13 episodes with each featuring Crick in conversation with friends, colleagues, and associates, deep-diving into the origin stories of key figures that have made an impact in the news such as Angela Rayner, Vladimir Putin, and Paul Dacre. 

“Michael is a legend in journalism and his name makes the rich and powerful quake in their handmade brogues,” said Podmasters group editor Andrew Harrison. “We’re honoured to welcome him to the growing Podmasters team and we know that Mugshots will become addictive listening.”

Crick was a founding member of the Channel 4 news team and former political editor of BBC News’ current affairs programme Newsnight. He has also made numerous guest appearances on a number of podcasts including political series Red Box Politics, Monocle 24’s literature podcast Meet The Writers, and The Owen Jones Podcast

The journalist joins Podmaster’s wide portfolio of hit news and political podcasts which reached over 14 million listeners last year, including political podcast Oh God, What Now?, geopolitical podcast Doomsday Watch with former diplomat and political commentator Arthur Snell, and history podcastOrigin Story with authors Ian Dunt and Dorian Lynskey.

Notable names in this area include the hosts of Global’s The News Agents - Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall - as well as Louis Thereoux in his new exclusive Spotify podcast - The Louis Theroux Podcast
