Podimo appoints former Twitter and Meta executives to product and growth team

Johann Querné joins as VP of Growth and Malvina Goldfeld joins as Chief Product Officer

Podcast and audiobook subscription service Podimo expands its footprint in the audio space by appointing two new hires to its product and growth team.

Malvina Goldfeld, former group product manager at social platform Meta (formerly known as Facebook), will be joining the team as chief product officer. With more than 15 years of experience in product development, Goldfeld will be responsible for curating Podimo’s product vision, strategy and execution.

“Podimo can play a huge role in the audio format to bring more thoughtful conversation, critical thinking and a more human angle across different perspectives as we live more and more of our lives online,” said Goldfeld. “The product should facilitate discovery of excellent content, foster community and enable our listeners to experience meaningful moments.

“We are building a product with global ambitions, but which also resonates deeply with local voices, listeners and culture, which is one of Podimo’s key strengths.”

Johann Querné also joined as VP of growth in November 2022, bringing in over 15 years of experience in digital marketing to the team – with his most recent roles being the global growth marketing director at Twitter and marketing director of growth and digital for Uber before that. In his new role, Querné will involve leading the company’s growth and eCommerce teams to help Podimo achieve market growth on a global scale.

“I like to live and breathe the product I’m working on, and Podimo is doing some really exciting things in the audio space,” said Querné. “I’m passionate about elevating businesses at this level, working holistically across the org, and leveraging technology to solve users’ needs.”

The new appointments are part of Podimo’s efforts to become a leading innovator in the spoken audio space. Former Amazon executive Claus Thune also joined the team in November last year as global director of programming to ensure high-quality user journey and discovery on the platform. Thune is currently based in Podimo’s headquarters in Denmark, while Goldfeld will be based out of Barcelona in her new role and Querné will be based out of London.

“We are betting big on innovating spoken-word audio – not just in how listeners discover or engage with content, but evolving the format itself and finding creative ways to unlock new experiences for our listeners,” said Podimo CEO and founder Morten Strunge. “We want the global team to be closer to the markets to ensure that learnings are being enhanced, tested and made scalable as we grow.”
