Entries are now open for the British Podcast Awards which are returning in September 2023, in partnership with PodPod.
This is the seventh annual British Podcast Awards ceremony, which celebrates excellence in the podcasting industry and honours creators both in front of the mic and working behind the scenes.
This year, the awards are powered by PodPod - under Haymarket Media Group - which acquired the BPAs in June 2022 from the founders, managing director of Rethink Audio Matt Hill and creative director of Folder Media Matt Deegan.
“We’re delighted to be supporting the British Podcast Awards for its seventh year, which promises to be even more spectacular than the last,” said PodPod editor Adam Shepherd. “The Awards is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the outstanding creativity within the British podcast industry, and we’re looking forward to seeing the best of our industry represented in this year’s nominations.”
New categories added to this year’s event include awards for the best History, Kids, and Parenting podcasts. Special recognition award categories also include Podcast of the Year - which went to BBC World Service’s Dear Daughter podcast in 2022 - the Rising Star award which highlights exceptional individuals within podcasting, and the specially-selected editor’s choice award categories which include the Podcast Champion, Spotlight award, and Specialist award.
Applications to this year’s awards are now open with entry fees starting from £35 plus VAT - depending on the individual or company’s annual turnover - for early bird entrants from now until 27 April. The final deadline for standard entry is 18 May, and shortlists will be announced shortly afterwards in July.
Independent audio producers from BIPOC, Queer, and Trans backgrounds may be eligible for financial support with their application through The Podcast, Seriously awards fund, which supports more than 200 awards submissions for independents annually.
