History Hit podcast network hires first commercial director

Jennifer Bennett will be tasked with accelerating events and partnership growth

Podcast network and streaming service History Hit has announced the appointment of Jennifer Bennett, who joins as the company’s first-ever commercial director.

With over 15 years of experience in the entertainment, media and advertising industry, Bennett’s goal will be to accelerate commercial success through managing content partnerships, overseeing the launch of new services, and increasing the company’s line of events as the brand aims to expand its portfolio.

“In just a few years, History Hit has built an impressive content network across digital video and audio,” said Bennett. “The team are passionate about producing highly engaging and relevant factual content, and I feel extremely lucky to join at a period of exciting growth for the business."

Bennet’s extensive resume includes previous senior roles such as being the commercial director of the award-winning event company Branded, regional business director of advertising services company Kinetic WPP, group sales manager of out-of-home media company Clear Channel, and senior business development manager of OOH firm JCDecaux.

The appointment is part of History Hit’s initiative to expand its team and network of contributors globally, as the company continues to work towards its goal of “reinventing the way in which history is shared” through podcasts, video stories, and more

“History Hit has seen great growth in commercial content partnerships since being part of Little Dot Studios, particularly with the success of Endurance 22 last year,” said History Hit managing director James Carson. “There is a world of potential to expand on this through content collaborations with brands, tourism and heritage organisations, along with developing key commercial initiatives across events, travel and publishing. Jen brings a wealth of experience to drive this next phase of growth.”

History Hit is a content platform and streaming channel, created due to the success of podcast Dan Snow’s History Hit, which produces eight podcast series on its network, as well original TV history programming as part of its SVOD service.

The company’s founder, Snow, sold History Hit to award-winning digital agency Little Dot Studios in August 2020, three years after launching the company. Snow said that the acquisition was the next phase in transforming the way people consume history, travel, and culture content and that Little Dot was the “perfect home” for the network.

Since launching in 2015, Dan Snow’s History Hit has become one of the most successful history podcasts in the UK and continues to be at the top of charts, currently ranking as the 19th most-popular on Chartable’s Apple Podcasts chart for Britain.
