Crowd Network signs first star athlete since opening sports division

Welsh rugby star Sam Warburton’s new podcast will explore leadership and performance

Audio-on-demand company Crowd Network has signed rugby player Sam Warburton to create a new podcast for its newly launched Crowd Sports division.

Former Wales and British & Irish Lions captain Warburton will be exploring leadership and high performance in sport through sitting down with ‘big-name’ guests in the new podcast for Crown Sports.

“When Crowd came to me with this idea, I knew it was the one for me,” said Warburton. “Leadership is something which has always obsessed me, and to share my experiences with others has been both rewarding and fascinating.

“I knew of Crowd’s reputation from their other sports shows and their track record, and they’ve been fantastic to partner with. We can’t wait to release our show into the world.”

The new signing follows Crowd Network’s recent launch of a sports division that includes a dedicated channel on Apple Podcasts, and features its popular shows with sports experts including The Geraint Thomas Cycling Club, The George Groves Boxing Club, and Beef’s Golf Club.

Creative director at Crowd Network Tom Fordyce said this collaboration means “establishing a long-term brand” with Warburton and that they will use the opportunity to create a community around Sam’s podcast.

“We’ve followed Sam’s development into an outstanding broadcaster and believe we’ve come up with the perfect concept to showcase his insights and expertise,” said Fordyce. “This is a podcast for anyone who loves sport, but it’s about so much more – how we can get the best from ourselves, how we should deal with adversity, how we can bring out the best in those around us.”
