Acting for Others, a UK charity for theatre workers, has announced the launch of a new podcast series called Acting for Others Presents…, featuring stage and screen actors in conversation, debuting on October 11th.
The non-profit organisation works through a network of 14 member charities which provide financial and emotional support to theatre industry professionals in need. All revenue made from the podcast will be donated to those in need across their network.
Each episode, two actors will sit down together for an intimate conversation - some for the first time ever and some catching up with old friends - to reveal monumental moments in their lives and discuss the highs and lows of their experiences in the acting industry.
Season one consists of six episodes, with the first featuring Dame Judi Dench - award-winning actress and president of Acting for Others - in conversation with singer and It’s a Sin actor Olly Alexander, including highlights such as Alexander reminiscing about running around Dench's garden as a child.
"We are delighted to launch Acting for Others Presents, our brand-new podcast. We hope you enjoy this exciting series of conversations in support of Acting for Others,” said Dench. “And remember, you can support our cause by donating via our website. All your donations will be supporting theatre workers in times of great need. Thank you."
Other notable pairings in the first season include David Tennant and Paapa Essiedu, Golda Rosheuvel and Noma Dumezweni, Miriam Margolyes and Sir Derek Jacobi, and Adjoa Andoh with Dame Eileen Atkins.
Vice president of Acting for Others, actress and screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge said: “Without the help and enthusiasm of the theatrical community and your generous donations, Acting for Others could not succeed, and we could not continue the work we do.”
